Received a report today that a user could not see more than two months out on a Exchange 2003 SP2 mailbox. It seemed odd to me since I had published a group policy that extends the default (2 months-ish) to 12 months or 1 year…

To troubleshoot I:

Checked user calendars on the same box and confirmed they were working.

Created a group for the resource mailboxes and added my username to the group, then set up individual profiles for the resources on my Outlook 2007 client. Once those were created I logged on to each box to “initialize?” the mailbox–thinking for some reason the mapi client had to interact with the domain policy to make the gp effect the mailbox. This didn’t work, oh and waited 15 minutes for the replication cycle.

Hunted around the internet for some fixes. Read many words on the Internet…

Found a switch for the Outlook command called “/cleanfreebusy”. According to the office folks it “Clears and regenerates free/busy information.” I did this, waited a bit and checked the resource maiblox calendar–worked! Nice…

Here is the office url reference the switches for the .exe.
